TGA (Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration) update on breast devices

20 September 2022: The TGA advised of emerging reports from the US, of squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) and various lymphomas found in the capsule or scar tissue around breast implants. These are not the same as BIA-ALCL and they are not breast cancers. The TGA wrote, ‘The risk of squamous cell carcinoma and other lymphomas occurring in the tissue around breast implants appears to be extremely rare.’  Read in full.
